We were the lucky ones in Delaware when Superstorm Sandy hit, dodging the catastrophic damage suffered by homeowners in New York and New Jersey.

More than 8,000 trees came down in New York City alone, their carcasses churned into stacks of wood chips covering entire city blocks. It took me all of a half hour to clean up the dead wood dropped by the storm.
