Woodmont Country Club
Since 2010, Davey has pruned trees and provided plant health care services to the historic Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, MD.
Woodmont Country Club was founded in 1913 in Rockville, MD. In the years since, it has become a premier golf course for the Washington, DC area. Woodmont offers two 18-hole championship golf courses across over 500 acres of meticulously maintained fairways, as well as an extensive practice facility and a top-of-the-line golf shop.
Maintaining the prestigious Woodmont Country Club requires a team of highly skilled and qualified experts. For Woodmont, those professionals are found at Davey.
Adding To Woodmont’s Long History
In 2018, a severe storm followed by drought caused stress on the trees at Woodmont. Davey performed a walkthrough and tree inventory to assess the condition of the trees, which were then mapped along with cost projections. Davey’s exceptional work during the tree evaluation led to a collaborative partnership. Davey crews are on-site as needed, removing and pruning trees for hazard reduction and canopy shaping during the winter, and performing storm cleanup and hazard reduction tree care during the growing season. Davey’s experts also meticulously trim trees to keep fairways safe and playable for visitors.
Davey also uses their knowledge to provide consulting services during construction projects, helping Woodmont preserve its tree canopy while continually improving its grounds.
In addition to tree care, Davey crews performed plant health care services to help Woodmont resolve leaf disease on its cherry trees, provided lightning protection to the trees, and performed soil mitigation services.
“Our focus is on the client experience, and we want to do what’s necessary to make sure their property is taken care of and looks better when we leave than when we got there,” Brian Leatherman, assistant district manager at Davey, says.
Looking Toward The Future
Woodmont Country Club prides itself on its ability to provide top-tier player experiences for over a century. Through a partnership built on trust and communication, Davey helps Woodmont continually evolve, ensuring members and players experience high-quality services on pristine grounds.
“Davey and their team have proven that they understand and respect what we’re doing here,” Lisa Barton, grounds manager and horticulturalist at Woodmont, says. “It’s a relationship that we’ve built over the years. They take a different type of dedication and willingness to help us so generations to come can enjoy this property.”
