Armyworms
Fall armyworm caterpillars eat the leaves and stems of turfgrasses, but typically do not destroy the crown of the plant. Early feeding damage can resemble drought stressed turf, but can quickly progress to complete browning of the entire stand when caterpillars are present in large numbers.
Cherry Bark Tortrix
The cherry bark tortrix (CBT) moths are major pests in the Pacific Northwest, where they affect rosaceous trees and shrubs. Affected plants include apple, crabapple, hawthorn, Mountain ash, pear and Photinia species. Prunus species are the preferred hosts.
Bruce Spanworm and Winter Moth
The winter moth and the Bruce spanworm are caterpillars that defoliate trees and shrubs.
Spongy moth
Spongy moths are insects who can cause extreme defoliation to trees when in their caterpillar stage.
