Marsh Commons Homeowners Association & Trestle Community Management

DRG returned to Marsh Commons in Kirkland, WA, to update its Tree Inventory and Management Plan. The reassessment included 189 trees and produced prioritized recommendations based on tree diversity, distribution, and condition to support long-term stewardship and maintenance across the property.

Building on a History of Stewardship

Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) partnered with Marsh Commons Homeowners Association and Trestle Community Management to update the Tree Inventory and Management Plan for Marsh Commons in Kirkland, WA. The property supports a diverse mix of native and ornamental trees within a residential setting, forming a complex urban forest that provides shade, supports wildlife habitat, and enhances community character and livability, while requiring structured, ongoing management to maintain long-term health and function.

Originally established as a single-home estate in 1929 and redeveloped into townhomes in the 1990s, the site has evolved into a mature landscape shaped by both development and sustained stewardship. As the tree population matured, the need for a more structured, long-term management approach became increasingly important.

DRG first inventoried the property in 2017 and developed a seven-year management strategy to guide long-term stewardship. As that cycle progressed, continued tree growth and changing site conditions required an updated assessment to ensure recommendations remained current. Ongoing maintenance has supported tree health and safety, while periodic reassessment ensures continued alignment with field conditions and long-term objectives.

Updating the Management Plan

In 2026, DRG returned to complete an updated inventory of 189 trees. This updated field data informed a refined management plan focused on tree diversity, distribution, and condition, and established prioritized recommendations for ongoing care.

The updated Tree Inventory and Management Plan provides a clear, practical framework for long-term management. By translating field data into actionable guidance, the plan supports proactive maintenance, enhances public safety, and helps sustain the long-term value of the property’s natural assets.
