McDonogh School
Since 2023, Davey has trimmed trees and performed plant health care services at the prestigious McDonogh School, tending to the campus grounds from the on-site farm, equestrian area, and orchard to the campus buildings.
McDonogh School, a prestigious school in Baltimore, MD, was founded in 1873. The 835-acre campus serves as a nondenominational, co-educational, K-12 college preparatory day school with options to board for upperclassmen.
The school takes pride in its amenities, including its grounds. McDonogh features a 10-acre campus farm where students can harvest produce used in the campus dining halls, which is then donated to local food pantries. It also houses a riding hall and several sports fields. Students can also explore the surrounding fields, woods, streams, and ponds.
Since 2023, McDonogh has maintained its campus’s pristine condition through a partnership with Davey.
A-Plus Tree Care
After performing a walkthrough assessment where safety, accessibility, and aesthetics were the main concerns, Davey compiled a tree management plan that includes the equestrian area, farm, orchard, and other parts of campus.
Davey performs tree care on campus, prioritizing based on location and risk. Every spring, crews trim trees around the Childs Memorial Terrace, which hosts important events like graduation ceremonies, to ensure classmates and their families stay safe during commencement. Once a month, plant health care technicians are on-site to fertilize young or newly planted trees. In addition to regular maintenance, crews quickly mobilize if needed after a storm to clear debris or trim trees damaged by high winds or other weather events.
Staying At The Top Of The Class
Davey knows that McDonogh’s renowned education and facilities are essential assets to the Baltimore community. By showcasing their expertise and ability to provide high-quality services, Davey has forged a long-term partnership with McDonogh to help the school maintain its immaculate campus.
