Camp Lejeune

Davey Resource Group performed baseline environmental investigations and prepared permits to help the Department of Defense expand several sites in the Marine Corps Base at Camp Lejeune, Onslow County, NC.

Project Narrative:

On behalf of the Department of Defense (DoD), Davey Resource Group (DRG) has prepared Section 404 (Individual and Nationwide) Permit and Section 401 Water Quality Certification applications for wetland and stream impacts associated with various capital improvement and expansion projects for training facilities, roads, and utility installation on several sites within the Marine Corps Base (MCB) at Camp Lejeune (Onslow County, North Carolina). DRG analyzed available environmental documentation, performed wetland and stream delineations, and conducted threatened and endangered species surveys as part of the baseline environmental investigations.

Getting To The Finish Line

Our staff worked with the MCB to prepare project narratives and to identify avoidance and minimization measures. We prepared alternatives analyses in compliance with Section 404(b)(1) guidelines and worked with the MCB to identify appropriate compensatory mitigation for unavoidable impacts to streams and wetlands. Additionally, DRG served as the key contact between Base personnel, project engineers, and regulatory agencies to procure Section 404/401 authorizations and Coastal Zone Management Consistency Determinations where applicable.

The Following Is A List Of Some Of The Permitting Projects DrG Has Worked On With The MCB:

  • Motor Transport Expansion Project (Individual Permit Modification Request)
  • K-Range Utility/Water Line Installation (Nationwide 12 Permit & CAMA Consistency Determination)
  • P-032 Infantry Platoon Battle Course (Individual Permit)
  • Suspect Cargo Area at Camp Geiger (Individual Permit)
  • Phase One Modernization of K-2 Ranges (Individual Permit)
