SAN ANTONIO - Local arborists are seeing a lot of “zombie trees" across south Texas.

You may have seen one.

At first, your tree looks alive, trying to survive after the February freeze. They can sometimes take months -- or even years to reveal themselves.

Some can be saved -- but others are likely dying and need to be removed.

"It's been one of the worst parts of my job, to be perfectly honest,” Jess Divin said. “It's hard because a lot of people invest a lot of time, energy, and emotion into a lot of these trees, so seeing something that has been alive for the last 80 years and then all of a sudden, one event comes in and just wipes it out."
