As part of the voluntary restrictions, Charlotte Water is asking residents to take several steps to conserve water, including:

- Limiting outdoor watering to no more than two days per week based on address
- Odd-numbered addresses: Tuesday and Saturday
- Even-numbered addresses: Wednesday and Sunday
- Avoiding watering during the hottest parts of the day

- Using commercial car washes that recycle water or minimizing washing at home
- Repairing leaks in irrigation systems, outdoor spigots, and indoor plumbing
