Natural Peeling
While peeling bark can be a symptom of larger issues for trees, certain types simply shed bark naturally—a process known as bark exfoliation.
“For certain tree species, it’s completely normal and natural for bark to peel in summertime, whether in large chunks or thin, papery strips,” says Joel Twist, manager at Davey Tree Atlanta. “This peeling bark can lend both beauty and texture to your landscape.”
