The shift from green to red, orange and yellow typically starts around mid-September in northern areas of the province and continues through October.
The timing of colour change is about the same every year, but the intensity of colours can vary with climate and weather, Ryan Statham, an ISA-certified arborist with Davey Tree in Strathroy, told INsauga.com.
“Cold weather, hot weather, those certainly have an impact on fall colouration, but cold weather isn’t actually what makes leaves change colour,” said Statham.
