Kent, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company donated 153 trees through the "Score for the Trees" program with the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins. Through this partnership, Davey donates one tree for every goal scored by the Penguins at their home arena, PPG Paints Arena. During the 2025-2026 season, the Penguins scored 153 goals at home, resulting in 153 trees to be planted.
Davey will partner with Tree Pittsburgh and Penguins volunteers to plant the trees throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. The first planting took place on Thursday, Oct. 8, at Chatham University.
"Davey has been working in the Pittsburgh area for nearly 100 years, and we're thrilled to continue that legacy with the Pittsburgh Penguins," said Sandra Reid, executive vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning at Davey. "Environmental stewardship and giving back to the communities where we live and work are central to who we are. We're proud to partner with organizations that share the same commitment, and we look forward to more goals scored by the Penguins!"
Davey is proud to continue its partnership with the Penguins for the 2026-2027 season, celebrating five consecutive years of working together to support communities across the greater Pittsburgh area. The program first launched during the NHL 2022-2023 season. Since then, Penguins players have scored 568 goals at home, resulting in 568 trees donated throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.
