Kent, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company donated 102 trees through the “Triples for Trees” program with MLB’s Detroit Tigers. Through this partnership, Davey donates three trees for every triple, or three-base hit, recorded by a Tigers player during the regular season's home and away games. During the 2026 season, the Tigers recorded 34 triples, resulting in 102 trees to be planted.
Davey employees and Tigers personnel will work with The Greening of Detroit to plant the donated trees in metro Detroit before next season. Tree planting dates and locations are yet to be announced.
“Our partnership with the Detroit Tigers has been very successful, and we’re happy to be back planting more trees this season,” said Sandra Reid, executive vice president of corporate communications and strategic planning at Davey. “This partnership helps make a lasting impact on communities across the greater Detroit area. We’re excited to see the environmental and community benefits these 102 trees will provide for years to come.”
The Triples for Trees program launched during the 2025 MLB season, which resulted in 108 trees being planted in spring 2026. Since the program began, 70 triples have been recorded, tallying 210 trees donated overall. The partnership also aligns with the ongoing efforts of the Detroit Tree Equity Partnership and its goal to plant 75,000 trees by 2027.
