Kent, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company has donated 6,865 trees as of November 2025 through seven sports partnerships since 2014. Organizations include NBA Cleveland Cavaliers, MLB Cleveland Guardians, NHL Pittsburgh Penguins, MLB Detroit Tigers, The Kaulig Companies Championship, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission with Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation and the NFL.

Davey’s first sports partnership was the Trees for Threes program with the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2014–2015 NBA season. For every three-point shot made by the Cavaliers at home, Davey donates a tree to be planted in Northeast Ohio. Since the first year of the program, Davey has contributed 5,163 trees. From the 2024–2025 season alone, 663 trees will be planted in the spring of 2026.
The Cleveland Guardians’ partnership, Swing for the Trees, began during the 2022 MLB season. For every home run scored by the Guardians at both home and away games, a tree is planted in the Northeast Ohio area. Since the program began, Davey has donated 633 trees, and from the 2025 season alone, 168 trees will be planted in the spring of 2026.
Davey’s partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Score for the Trees, began during the 2022-2023 NHL season. For every home goal scored by the Penguins, one tree gets planted in the Pittsburgh area. Since the program began, Davey has contributed 415 trees, and from the 2024-2025 season alone, 131 trees will be planted in the spring of 2026.
The Detroit Tigers’ partnership, Triples for Trees, began during the 2025 MLB season. For every triple made by a Tigers player at home or away, three trees get planted in the Detroit area, for a minimum of 100 trees. Since the program began, Davey has donated 108 trees to be planted in the spring of 2026.
Davey’s partnership with The Kaulig Companies Championship, Birdies ‘Fore’ Trees, began in 2024. For every birdie made by a PGA TOUR champions professional on Firestone Country Club’s signature 16th hole, a tree is planted in Northeast Ohio. Since the program began, Davey has contributed 172 trees, and in 2025 alone, 86 trees were planted.
In 2024, Davey partnered with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation in support of the Pan-American Master Games. To celebrate the 24 countries participating in the Pan-American Master Games, Davey planted 24 trees in Cleveland’s Cultural Gardens. And in 2021, in conjunction with the NFL, Davey planted 350 trees throughout the City of Cleveland through a partnership for the 2021 NFL Draft.
