How to Plant a Tree: Planting Your Tree The Right Way (Part 1)

In this video, we will cover the proper steps for prepping your new tree and chosen planting spot.

If the tree came from a nursery in burlap, you are going to remove the burlap around the base of the trunk and top of the root ball. If it also has a wire cage around it, remove it so the roots can more easily spread.

If the tree came in a container, you would take the extra step to cut off any roots that are dead. If any roots are tangled, you would make several vertical cuts in the sides of the root ball and an x-shape cut in the bottom to loosen the roots.
