Research-Backed Strategies For Better Solar Land Management

Davey’s Science Education and Employee Development (SEED) Campus houses a two-acre solar field that serves as a constantly evolving research laboratory. In spring 2025, the Davey Institute seeded new vegetation under the arrays in an effort to identify best practices for minimizing erosion, preventing weed growth, and maintaining vegetation easily. The Davey Institute is also partnering with The Ohio State University to explore agrivoltaics, or the dual use of land for agriculture and solar energy.
