Chinch Bugs
Chinch bugs are small black and white insects that live in thatch and damage turf by sucking the sap and injecting toxic saliva. Adults are about 1/5 long. Newly hatched, immature nymphs appear bright red with a white band across the back.
Bronze Birch Borer
The bronze birch borer (Agrilus anxius) is a destructive beetle that feeds on birch trees. Signs of this pest include off-color and sparse foliage in the upper canopy of the birch tree, dead branches in the upper crown and swollen ridges on the trunk and branches.

Armyworms
Fall armyworm caterpillars eat the leaves and stems of turfgrasses, but typically do not destroy the crown of the plant. Early feeding damage can resemble drought stressed turf, but can quickly progress to complete browning of the entire stand when caterpillars are present in large numbers.
Vascular Wilt Diseases
Vascular wilt diseases are caused by different fungi that attack the vascular (water-conducting) system of trees. A tree responds by blocking its vascular system to contain the disease. In doing so, the water supply to the leaves is cut off.
Fall Webworm
Fall webworm larvae are pale greenish-yellow with either black or red heads. They have two rows of black spots along their backs and scattered long hairs along their bodies. The caterpillars transform into white moths in the spring.
Magnolia Scale
Magnolia scale, This the largest of the soft scale. Adult female scales are relatively large, up to ½ inch and peach to gray in color, often with a fuzzy white covering. Feeding by the insect can stress trees, resulting in twig dieback and a decline in tree health.
