Davey Resource Group repaired an eroding shoreline and bank failure on the Emerald Green retention pond located in a 100-year floodplain in Illinois.

Project Narrative:

In 2016, Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG) was contracted by the Emerald Green Recreation Association to provide improvements to the Emerald Green retention pond. Located within a 100-year floodplain, the retention pond is adjacent to the West Branch of the DuPage River. The Emerald Green retention pond was in serious need of repair from an eroding shoreline and bank failure over the course of many years. Working with the Board and its consultant, DRG finished a majority of the work in spring 2017. The work included:

Dewatering
Demolition and removal of sheet piling
Installation of rock toe
Installation of coir fiber (BioD-Block™)
Seeding and installation of native plant plugs
Herbivore protection

One of the benefits of restoration included an outcropping wall to allow for shore fishing.
