Akron Children's Hospital
Davey crews are on-site 365 days a year to perform grounds maintenance, snow and ice removal, and more for the largest pediatric healthcare system in northeast Ohio.
Since 2014, Davey has had a site-dedicated crew staged on location at Akron Children’s Hospital (ACH) to provide commercial grounds management for the bustling urban campus. As the main campus for the largest pediatric healthcare system in northeast Ohio, the hospital’s goal was to provide a safe, therapeutic atmosphere with a top-notch appearance and minimal environmental impact. ACH found a great match in Davey because we could keep up with their ever-expanding campus during all four seasons while offering an unmatched diversity of services.
Davey’s ACH crew is on-site 14 hours a day, 365 days a year performing scheduled landscape maintenance, removing trash and litter, cleaning up biohazard spills, and clearing snow/ice according to the rigid zero-tolerance policy during winter. To provide curb appeal, crews mow turf, prune trees and shrubs, and infuse annual color into the campus several times a year. Environmentally-friendly fertilizers and deicing agents are employed to achieve the desired effect, using no more than necessary.
Second to providing excellent patient care, Akron Children’s Hospital takes great pains to provide a pleasing, kid-friendly experience for visitors both inside the expansive hospital buildings and outside in the campus’s greenspace. In October 2017, Davey Tree was recognized by the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) with a Grand Award for their work maintaining ACH’s outside spaces. Davey is proud of its role in making Akron Children’s Hospital a beautiful, safe space for children to enjoy during their visit.
