Though we are still a few months away from the official grand opening, employees and retirees got their first chance to experience the SEED Campus at the Davey Company’s Annual Shareholders’ Meeting.

It was the first of many occasions to take place in SEED Campus’s events space, which is housed in a historic restored barn that anchors one end of the main building. Teams have been working tirelessly to prepare the space for this meeting several months ahead of the campus’s opening. It was just a sneak peek of what is soon to come – leaving attendees in awe of the progress and opportunity and eager to see the finished campus later this year.

Davey Chairman, President and CEO Pat Covey acknowledged the grand vision and the many opportunities that will come with the opening of the SEED Campus in his opening remarks.

“This campus is all about training for all the work we do out there in the field, every bit of it,” he said, referencing wetlands, tree canopies, the indoor climbing center, research plots, and more. “We really think it represents a true testament to who we’ve been the last 145 years.”

We will share more information in the coming weeks and months as staff prepare to move into the building, and as we progress toward the campus’s official opening. Please note that the space is not yet open to visitors.

About The SEED Campus

The Davey Tree SEED (Science, Employee Education, and Development) Campus, the almost 200-acre property that formerly housed the Oak Knolls golf course and Franklin Elementary School on State Route 43 in Kent, Ohio, will be the new home to specialized training and research facilities for The Davey Tree Expert Company. The science and learning campus is being designed to ensure that Davey continues to attract and retain the most qualified, well-trained, and engaged employees possible.
