As we inch closer to the SEED Campus’s grand opening, the campus’s metaphorical “front door” – a 30-acre arboretum – is truly beginning to bloom.
Arboreta are botanical gardens specializing in trees and/or woody plants, where research, education, and conservation efforts often converge. Davey’s arboretum will serve as a place where we can offer plant identification training and other educational opportunities for employees. And once open, Northeast Ohio visitors and community members will be able to enjoy the space, gaining their own appreciation for and education about trees.
Davey’s arboretum will feature eight “rooms” grouped by like plantings:
- Four Season Garden
- Native Ohio Garden
- Water Garden
- Pollinator Garden
- Flowering Shrubs
- Conifer Collection
- Shade Trees
- Ornamental Trees
Planting at the arboretum has taken place over the past several years, and recently, an elevated water feature and decorative fishpond was installed.
Please note, walking paths in the arboretum remain closed. We ask that members of the public respect the property’s ongoing, active construction status.
As the seasons change, and the plants and trees continue to grow, we’ll continue to share progress. View the gallery below for a look at some of the arboretum “rooms” as of June 2025:
