Trees and vegetation are wonderful additions to our surroundings, except when they harm the local ecosystem.
Invasive trees and plants throughout the Houston area, often planted for aesthetics or without knowledge of their impact, have cause millions of dollars in damage and can be expensive to remove.
"When Houston subdivisions were being developed, back in the 40s and 50s, tree sellers would go up and down streets with saplings, saying 'would you like to buy a tree?'" said local arborists Matt Perry from Davey Tree. "This was before there was a city ordinance for trees. It would just depend on whatever farmers had on their flatbed,"
