The Cleveland Cavaliers partnered with the Davey Tree Expert Company to plant one tree for every 3-pointer made last season, which amounted to 600 trees, in the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.
“We pride ourselves on being environmental stewards, strengthening the well-being of the communities we serve,” said Kevin Clayton, Cleveland Cavaliers executive vice president and chief impact and equity officer. “Our 11-year partnership with Davey Tree helps us reach far beyond the basketball court, turning our team’s success into a restoration effort for the Northeast Ohio tree canopy.”
Volunteers from each organization planted the 600 trees at the zoo’s new primate forest and tortoise yard.
