A white flower in the foreground.When most people think about plants that attract pollinators, they probably picture pretty flowers or blooming bushes. Rarely do they consider trees, which play as important a role in helping pollinators as any lantana, mealy blue sage or purple coneflower does. 

"Eighty-five percent of trees count on pollinators to survive, and probably to a greater extent, pollinators depend on trees and other flowering plants in the landscape," explained Tim Jackson, district manager of the local branch of the Davey Tree Expert Co. 

Pollinators are those bees, beetles, butterflies, moths, hummingbirds, bats, wasps, flies, ants and other insects that spread pollen between plants, fertilizing them so they can produce seeds, fruits and new vegetation. The importance of pollinators cannot be overstated.
