Davey Tree recently had the honor of hosting the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A300 Standards Committee at our SEED Campus. The A300 standards are the authoritative tree care standards in the United States, covering everything from pruning and fertilization to integrated vegetation management, and are used by arborists, utilities, municipalities and government agencies nationwide. 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the first published A300 standard, with the committee now overseeing 10 clauses covering common arboricultural practices.

Davey’s connection to this committee runs deep. Retiree Dr. Richard Rathjens served on the A300 Committee for 23 years, contributing his expertise in tree and shrub fertilization to help shape the standard from its earliest days. Tim Bushnell, project manager for arborist skills, previously chaired the committee, and today, Davey continues that tradition of involvement through AD Ali, Natalie McNeill and Rick Denbeau.

During their visit, the committee had the opportunity to tour the SEED Campus and experience our state-of-the-art climbing facility firsthand. The climbing facility is certified to ISO 9001 QMS (Quality Management System) and accepted as a Petzl Technical Partner, both of which represent our ongoing commitment to training, safety and setting the standard for what professional tree care looks like.

Hosting this group at the SEED Campus was a natural fit as we strive to be a leader in the tree care industry, so our participation in this committee is another way we can achieve that goal and adhere to our values.
