Kent, Ohio – Davey Resource Group, Inc. (DRG), a subsidiary of The Davey Tree Expert Company, announces a new service offering of transportation engineering, as well as the appointment of three new team members: Eric Smith, director of transportation engineering; Ben Morgan, lead transportation engineer; Shawn Monahan Jr., traffic engineer.
The new transportation engineering service offering is available to DRG clients within the Ohio and Great Lakes region and is a way DRG can expand its engineering, surveying and environmental services. The new transportation engineering team will have the ability to conduct area-wide transportation studies as they relate to clients’ projects that can include designing roadways, stormwater mitigation concerns, safety precautions and more.
“Expanding our services into transportation engineering will be a huge benefit to our clients since this portion of the project can now be completed in-house with the same DRG team they’ve worked with for other portions of the project,” said Travis Crane, area manager, DRG. “Eric, Ben and Shawn are experts in this field, and I’m looking forward to seeing how their combined knowledge will enhance our clients’ projects and what they can teach the rest of the DRG team.”
Smith, who has almost 40 years of experience in the industry, has been appointed to the newly created position of director, transportation engineering. Smith, joined by Morgan and Monahan Jr., comes from PRIME AE Group, Inc., where Smith’s most recent position was the vice president of national traffic engineering/ITS. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from The University of Akron and a master’s degree in real estate development from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Morgan has been appointed to the newly created position of lead transportation engineer. Morgan, formerly a transportation engineer, holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from The University of Akron.
Monahan has been appointed to the newly created position of traffic engineer. Monahan, who formerly held a cooperative education (co-op) position, holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from The University of Akron and is a licensed engineer intern (EI).
