Texas Utility
DRG helped bolster electric service reliability by conducting a comprehensive visual inspection of various locations for a Texas utility using U.S. drones to collect high-resolution imagery.
The Opportunity
Davey Resource Group, Inc.’s (DRG's) small unmanned aerial vehicles (sUAV) inspect utility assets from a bird’s eye view, providing valuable data from every angle while providing a broader view of your overall assets. DRG’s diverse fleet of U.S. drones piloted by FAA certified remote pilots captured high-resolution imagery for the client to identify and prioritize maintenance opportunities. Despite the locations spanning across Texas, DRG was able to complete the project in a month and a half, offering multiple solutions based on the findings.
The Methodology
DRG's proprietary software, ResourceKeeper, automatically organizes the data seamlessly to streamline deliverables to the client. With live streaming capabilities and 360 imagery map features, clients are able to see real-time information, especially when dealing with immediate threats and emergency situations.
Following the drone fleet, Davey’s Utility Asset Management team was fast behind, addressing any concerns swiftly. This coordinated effort provided a complete solution to the client’s opportunity for reliability improvement. The vast services and expertise provided under one umbrella provide clients with a one-stop-shop for flexible, tailored solutions to any problem.
The Result
DRG’s efforts enabled the client to quickly make informed decisions on how to repair assets and curb encroaching vegetation. These proactive steps will promote efficiencies, improve safety, and demonstrate best management practices.
