Kent, Ohio – Sandra Reid, vice president, corporate communications and strategic planning administration for The Davey Tree Expert Company, has been elected to the National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) board of directors.
Davey, which employs over 8,600 people, has been employee-owned for 38 years since the employees successfully bought the company from the family of its founder, John Davey, in 1979.
“Employee ownership has been a driving force behind past and present successes at Davey Tree,” Reid said. “I’m proud to bring the knowledge and resources of Davey Tree to the NCEO board in service of members and participants in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan industry.”
The NCEO is a non-profit membership and research organization founded in 1981 to provide objective, reliable information on employee ownership to businesses, employees and the public. Reid’s three-year term on the NCEO board starts in April.
“Sandra is a committed advocate for employee ownership,” said Loren Rodgers, executive director, NCEO. “I look forward to having her perspective on the board, coming from one of the nation’s largest ESOP companies.”
In 2016, the NCEO Employee Ownership 100 list ranked Davey the 13th largest employee-owned company in the U.S. Collectively, the top employee-owned companies on the 2016 list employ more than 650,000 people. Across the U.S., there are about 7,000 ESOPs covering almost 14 million participants, according to research conducted by the NCEO. Details on this research can be found at the NCEO’s website www.nceo.org.
