Kent, Ohio – The Davey Tree Expert Company has announced the promotion of three key executives within Davey’s eastern utility operations, including Wolf Tree, a Davey subsidiary, and Davey Resource Group (DRG).
Brent Repenning has been promoted to senior vice president of Davey Resource Group (DRG) and eastern utility operations.
This represents an expansion of responsibilities for Repenning, who will continue to oversee DRG, Davey’s environmental consulting division, while adding oversight for Davey’s eastern utility services.
Davey Chairman and CEO Karl Warnke said Repenning’s promotion is a part of Davey’s strategic succession planning in order to prepare the company’s largest business segment, utility, for opportunities of the future.
“The merging of our consolidated utility capabilities under single leadership will expand our service offerings, present new opportunities and strengthen our brand in this important market,” Warnke said.
Repenning joined DRG in 1994 as an intern and held positions of increasing responsibility until, in 2009, he became vice president of eastern operations for DRG. In 2010 he was named vice president and general manager of DRG. In 2013 he became a corporate officer of the Davey Company. Repenning holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from The Ohio State University. He received a Davey Outstanding Manager award in 2007.
Claypool, Joehlin Promoted
Harry Claypool has been promoted to vice president and general manager, southern utility operations.
Claypool‘s responsibilities will be overseeing utility line clearance operations in the southern U.S. for Davey and Wolf Tree, a Davey company.
Claypool started with Davey in 1978 in the Akron office after graduating from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in general agriculture. He served as district manager of several residential territories before moving into Davey‘s utility service line in 1998. In 2005 he was promoted to vice president of southern operations and then to senior vice president of southern operations in 2015.
“Harry and his team have achieved tremendous growth in the southern utility operations, and this promotion is recognition of his ability to be successful in a challenging segment of our business,” said Brent Repenning, senior vice president, Davey Resource Group and eastern utility services. "Harry's success is a testament to his leadership skills."
To complement the leadership changes in utility services, changes also have been made in the DRG management structure.
Ken Joehlin has been promoted to vice president and general manager, environmental consulting and business development.
With his additional role, Joehlin will be responsible for further growing Davey Resource Group's environmental, municipal and commercial consulting markets. These markets consist of several DRG business units Joehlin will oversee.
"While we have grown these markets significantly, both organically and through acquisitions, these markets represent a significant growth opportunity for Davey," Brent Repenning said.
Joehlin started with Davey in 1982 as a technical advisor in environmental consulting. In 1996 he returned to Davey as a project developer after other employment in the green industry. Joehlin was promoted to manager of business development in 2006. And in 2011 he was promoted to vice president of business development. He holds bachelor‘s and master‘s degrees in forestry science from The Ohio State University.
Joehlin is a former member of the Davey President's Council and a recipient of the Best of Davey Leadership Award.
