KENT, Ohio - The Davey Tree Expert Company has named James F. Stief a corporate officer.
"Jim has demonstrated all of the qualities of effective leadership and is driven in his pursuit of growth and continuous improvement for the residential/commercial service line. He is a team player and understands the complexities of our company, the markets and the many individuals he works with," says Karl Warnke, Davey Chairman, President and CEO.
A 32-year Davey veteran, Stief joined the company in Pittsburgh as a climber while attending college and participating in a co-operative education program. After graduation he joined Davey's Atlanta office as a tree care foreman and was later promoted to district manager. In 1988, he was promoted to operations manager, western operations and relocated to Livermore, Calif.
In 1992, Stief was named operations manager for midwestern operations and relocated to Kent. In 1998, he was promoted to vice president of operations for Davey's residential/commercial services southern, western and central operations.
In 2008, Stief was named vice president and general manager of residential/commercial services for the southern, western and central operations. In January of this year, Stief assumed responsibility for all Davey U.S. residential/commercial operations in his capacity as vice president and general manager, residential/commercial services.
Stief is a 1979 alum of the School of Forestry at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.
He is a 1980 graduate of the Davey Institute of Trees Sciences, earning the Golden Oak award for the top grade in the class and was a charter member of Davey's President's Council.
