Crews Count, Rate Trees on City Property in Springfield

Six years after a damaging ice storm, the city is doing a new count and listing of all its trees.

A complete inventory, costing up to $90,000, is expected to give the city an idea of the financial value of its “urban forest” and what maintenance needs to be done. Some trees will be removed.
