What is Vertical Mulching?

Vertical mulching technology can help reduce the effects of soil compaction and address root issues without damaging the tree. In this video, you will see the tool in action and learn the negative damages of soil compaction to a tree’s health.

When an arborist comes to your property to assess your tree's health, they also examine the health of your soil.

Soil compaction is a problem in many areas, which is caused by foot traffic or vehicular traffic. It compacts pore space of soil.

The pore space is crucial for your tree’s health because it contains water and air, which trees need to survive. When compressed, the soil keeps trees from accessing the air and water. Over time, it can lead to gradual decline in tree health.

To help address soil compaction, we use a pneumatic excavation tool that uses high-speed compressed air to quickly displace the soil then back filling with porous materials for the site.

The tool is designed to remove soil without damaging the tree.
