Tom Swearingen, district manager
Tom, a native to the area, grew up in Detroit and studied general classes at Oakland Community College. Tom then joined Davey in February 1982. Tom loves interacting with the people at his job.
Outside of the office, Tom is a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce and the MGIA local chapter. He also enjoys gardening and hunting.
Tom says his favorite tree is the tri-color beech for its unusual characteristics and attractiveness. He also enjoys water features among landscapes. “They’re very relaxing and interesting to watch.”
Tom and his wife, Sandra, of 34 years, live in Lake Orion with their two dogs, Sadie and Brosco. Tom and Sandra’s three children, Franklin, Andrew and Jacob, are in their 20s. |

Ken Sedgeman, sales arborist
Ken spent three years in the Army and attended community college before joining Davey in 1982. He has been an ISA Certified Arborist since May 1998. Ken looks forward to the challenges ahead as Davey continues to prosper.
An Ann Arbor, Michigan native, Ken enjoys running, specifically 10Ks, golfing and playing tennis in his spare time. As for Ken’s favorite tree: “I like the majesty of the red oak to anchor my landscape.”
Ken and his wife, Robbie, have been married for more than 20 years. They have traveled to Israel with their church and completed two mission trips to South Africa and the Philippines. Although their two cats, Radar and Kimba, have passed away, Ken said he and his wife are most likely to get more cats in the near future. |

Sandra Beagan, office coordinator
After studying small business management at Schoolcraft College, Sandra began her career with Davey in 1999. Her favorite aspect of the job is the interaction among all long-term Davey clients.
Sandra has always had a passion for gardening but has learned to better appreciate entire landscapes since she’s worked at Davey. “Everyone should have a tri-colored beech, my favorite!” she says. Sandra also practices real estate part time and enjoys reading and bike riding.
Sandra grew up in Plymouth, Mich., but now lives in Canton, Mich., with her family. Sandra and her husband of 12 years, Jeff, have two sons named Kyle, 12, and Zack, 10. The family owns a chocolate lab named Lyla, a gecko named Leo and a guinea pig named Mr. Nibbles. |

Tom Holden, AA sales representative
Tom grew up in Northville, Mich., where he now lives with his wife. Two years after Tom graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in forestry, he joined Davey at the North Detroit office in 1980.
Tom is an ISA Certified Arborist, and he loves anything to do with trees. In fact, his favorite tree is the sugar maple, for its “nice fall color.”
Tom particularly enjoys helping customers learn about proper tree care. Outside of the office, however, Tom occasionally plays guitar, as well as handball.
Tom has been married to his wife, Abbie, for more than 25 years. They have a son named Jim. |
