The Davey Resource Group (DRG) is pleased to welcome Senior Urban Forestry Consultant, Kerry Gray to our team! In her role with DRG, Kerry will focus on project management and providing technical input in the development of DRG’s municipal urban forest master plans, tree management plans, operation assessments and urban forestry and natural resource management policy reviews.
Prior to joining DRG, Kerry worked for the City of Ann Arbor for over 10 years as the Urban Forestry and Natural Resources Planning Coordinator. In this position, Kerry focused on creating and implementing plans, policies, programs, and practices to sustainably manage the city’s urban forest resources. She was also responsible for reviewing development site plans and construction documents for compliance with the city’s natural resource protection and landscape ordinances. Kerry also worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources on emerald ash borer restoration initiatives and led efforts in resource conservation at the Ingham Conservation District.
“Through my experience, I have developed a passion for engaging the public in urban forest management and planning. By actively engaging and educating residents about the benefits and management needs of the urban forest, we can build community support to secure resources and funding to sustainably care for and manage our urban forests. I’m excited to join the DRG team and to use my experience to help communities and residents better understand, plan and manage their urban forest.”
Kerry is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Society of Municipal Arborist and the Michigan Urban and Community Forestry Council. She is also an ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist.
Kerry lives in southeast Michigan, and when not working she enjoys reading, gardening, running, hiking, skiing, camping, traveling and spending lots of time with her family and friends.
