Mr. Boateng, M.A., is a senior geospatial analyst applying spatial analysis and predictive modeling to environmental assessment, urban planning and the support of sustainable development. His routine work involves geospatial analysis, creating and processing final deliverable products, land cover change modeling and the creation and design of cartographic products through use of advanced GIS and Remote Sensing software. He currently manages the internal quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) analysis of the spatial data and the creation of the final cartographic map production for the USDA Asian Longhorned Beetle eradication projects.
Mr. Boateng plays a key role in the development of Davey Resource Group’s innovative GIS tools and solutions, focusing on urban canopy effects on tree resource and cost analysis, geospatial predictive modeling and strategic environmental assessment. He has working experience in urban planning, urban resource and policy analysis. He also has strong interests in the research and development of urban tree mortality assessments, land use and site suitability analysis, habitat assessment, Reducing Emissions from Degradation and Deforestation (REDD) analysis, soil erosion modeling and climate action plans.
Prior to joining Davey Resource Group, Mr. Boateng worked as a Program Officer with Environmental Applications and Technology Centre, where he was involved in the preparation of Ghana’s Multi-sectoral Greenhouse Gas Inventory, a regional planning and sustainable development approach to emission mitigation and adaptation. He was a Geospatial Data Analyst to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Focal Point at the Environmental Protection Agency in Ghana. While pursuing his graduate degree, he worked as a Teaching/Research Assistant in the Department of Geography and Planning at The University of Akron.
Mr. Boateng received a Master of Arts degree in Geography and Urban Planning from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Resource Development from The University of Ghana with a minor in Philosophy. He is a member of the American Planners Association (APA) - Ohio, the Ohio Urban Regional System Association (URISA), GIS Users of Northern Ohio (GUONO), Greenhouse Gas Management Institute and the Golden Key International Honor Society. He joined Davey Resource Group in May 2009
