"Davey offers diversity with the work and challenges you face, but it also provides stability. You can count on job security, safety with the equipment you use, and quality of the people you work with."
Michael Volz moved to Washington state with the intention to enroll in graduate school there. However, he changed his mind after accepting a career opportunity with Davey.
Volz, a Residential Services sales representative in Seattle, joined Davey in 2004 as a trainee trimmer. One of Volz's Purdue University professors got him interested in Davey, and corporate recruiter Mark Noark encouraged him to apply for a job with the tree experts.
Volz earned top honor at the 2008 Davey Institute of Tree Sciences (DITS), a month-long training session that includes topics such as plant health care, tree climbing techniques, chainsaw safety and pruning.
"At Davey, you always improve on what you’re doing," he says. "We try to take that knowledge and share it with our clients. We care about what they want, and we share what we know as we complete each task."
