Crisp County Power (CCP) is relying upon Davey Resource Group (DRG) to conduct a field inventory of assets and provide map maintenance services of the utility’s geographical information system.
Using pen-based computers and Trimble GPS units, we are collecting locations for assets such as pad-mounted transformers and other point features on all circuits of the distribution system. Once loaded into the GIS, we will host and update the CCP website to include provisions for online staking and work-order tracking. This allows the utility to share the total hardware, software, implementation, maintenance, and personnel costs with other customers.
Additionally, CCP creates a work order in the district office and then uploads the staked data and GPS points to DRG for posting to the GIS. Work began in early 2008.
CCP serves Crisp County, Ga. It also owns and operates Lake Blackshear, an 8,700 acre reservoir that provides hydroelectric power to customers. Its service area covers 330 square miles with an estimated population of 23,000. It includes about 850 miles of distribution and transmission lines and 12,000 meters.
