“If you have a strong work ethic, like the outdoors and are a people person, you would be very hard pressed to find any opportunity equal to Davey.”
Bill Whitmire considers his colleagues at Davey the best in the business. And he should know.
“Growing up in Kent, Ohio, I had family members working for Davey since the 1930s,” he says. “Joining Davey was an opportunity to be outdoors and work with the best people in the industry - that is one constant that has stood the test of time.”
Whitmire, manager of the Western operating group of Residential and Commercial Services, joined Davey in 1978 as a lawn care technician in Akron, Ohio. He has been involved with many significant projects, including Davey’s initial Asian Longhorned Beetle eradication contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2000 and 2001. This included injecting and monitoring thousands of trees in Chicago.
In addition to his love of working outdoors, the Brentwood, Calif.-based Whitmire says, “Without question, I enjoy working with our young employees who keep me challenged, and I am excited for our company’s future given the caliber of our newer recruits.”
