Dixie Electric Power Association: Field Inventory

Dixie Electric Power Association has called upon the expertise of Southeastern Reprographics, Inc., a unit of Davey Resource Group (DRG), to complete field inventory of assets.

DRG is locating every pole, meter and underground device on the system through a global positioning system (GPS). We also are collecting all associated data with these points.

DRG field technicians collect the data, and geographic information system (GIS) technicians process it into a final GIS product. Dixie has nearly 104,000 poles and more than 3,000 underground devices on its system.

The final data will be presented in Futura Map, an application software product owned by Patterson Dewar Engineers and Southeastern Data Cooperative (SEDC) and built on ESRI ArcGIS platform. The project started in April of 2006 and will be completed by June 2008.

Dixie EPA, headquartered in Laurel, Miss., has 4,665 miles of line in its service area and serves approximately 40,000 customers.
