La Cantera is one of the premier upscale shopping centers in San Antonio, Texas, and a site with which Davey Large Tree Moving is very familiar.
Davey crews worked through unsually wet weather and record temperatures of 100 degrees F to move mature trees on the nearly 200-acre site. Davey shared the common goal of the developers - to make the center the "best of the best".
Working with landscape architect J. Robert Anderson and The Rouse Company, Davey's experts identifed and moved a number of large live oaks slated for preservation into a holding area.
To ensure successful relocation and reduce the stress on the trees, the Davey team installed an extensive irrigation system and carefully monitored each specimen. Davey experts installed cabling and fertilized the trees, keeping them prepared for relocation following the two-year construction period.
As with many projects, the ability to marshal national and local resources allowed Davey to ensure a successful result.
