Roy Montan has made it his job to ensure his colleagues stay safe.

Montan is a safety specialist who consults with Davey crews throughout Ohio. He joined the tree experts in 1990 as a tree climber and trimmer for the Akron office of Residential and Commercial Services. He previously did landscaping and reclamation work but was drawn to Davey’s positive reputation.

"Davey provided credible tree service in the New Philadelphia area, and crews always had work," says Montan, who lived in the northeastern Ohio city, more than 50 miles from the Akron office, when he began his Davey career. "It was a long drive, but it was worth it."

In 2006, he began traveling across the state to make sure Davey crews do work as safely and efficiently as possible. Montan, who in his free time enjoys discovering treasures on old homesteads and parks with his metal detector, says he reaps benefits in developing bonds with colleagues and witnessing coworkers’ loyalty to Davey.
