Work For Davey

Grant Jones

"Davey has provided the best opportunity to actually use what I’ve learned in school."

Grant Jones enjoys the variety of people and projects he works with as he travels throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain region to offer technical consulting.

In 2006, Jones joined The Davey Institute, which conducts research and development for The Davey Tree Expert Company. As an advisor, he provides assistance to Residential and Commercial employees, helps diagnose plant problems and makes recommendations to plant health care technicians and managers.

The Chicago-based Jones has helped train employees performing applications on the Asian Longhorned Beetle eradication project in New York City. He also has served as an instructor for various Davey Institute training programs such as DITS, DIGM and DIHS.

"It’s always rewarding to teach them something new, but I usually end up learning just as much from them," Jones says.

For Davey research, he is involved with several projects each year that investigate effectiveness of new products, new arboriculture techniques and current trends in the green industry.

"There is always an opportunity to learn something new," Jones says. "I like the variety in my job. I never feel like I’ve slipped into a rut of doing the same thing every day."

Davey is unique in the industry because it utilizes its resources and offers continuing education and training to employees. This, Jones says, helps every worker focus on continued success.
