Sid Sanchez has worked since he was a teenager to help support his family, so when he was laid off from his previous job, he looked forward to taking a long and well-deserved break. But then a neighbor encouraged him to apply for a job with Davey.
Just days later in the summer of 1990, Sanchez began his career as a climber with Davey Utility Services on the Pacific Gas and Electric account in California. He now is a supervisor.
"I never even thought of a job with Davey, but I was sold on the company when I went to that interview," he says. "You’re given great opportunities to excel to where you want to go, and there are an endless amount of options for what you can do."
Sanchez, who plays drums in several Latin jazz bands in the Bay Area, says he appreciates Davey Tree’s family atmosphere and emphasis on safety.
"When you focus on your people, you get the best from them," he says. "It makes them want to excel, be productive and stay loyal."
