Work For Davey

Anand Persad

“Every time I see a Davey crew hard at work - it can be anywhere in the country - I feel a sense of pride. In almost five years of sightings, I have never failed to pause and stare.”

Anand Persad thinks of Davey as a bank account.

"Using our tremendous good reputation as currency, at the end of each work day we make sure that we deposited more than we did the day before," he says.

Persad, an entomologist and technical advisor to offices in the Middle Atlantic States, has been making his "deposits" since 2003 when he joined The Davey Institute. He has a doctorate in entomology from the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine, Trinidad, and is a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. In his free time, the certified aviculturist breeds champion American Singer canaries.

He sought a career with Davey because he felt he could have the "best of both worlds. I get to perform research and technology transfer in the private sector," Persad says. "I have a variety of duties and do so many different things each day."

This includes giving lectures and participating in a continental dialogue to help Congress revisit federal and state invasive species regulations.

Persad encourages anyone interested in a job with Davey to apply because the company "offers one of the most positive working environments with excellent growth prospects," he says.
