"The value placed upon character and doing the right thing reflects on the people of this company, and it will continue to reflect on my career for the rest of my life."
Matt Grafton was impressed by Davey from the first time he met a group of employees at a conference, so three years later he jumped at the chance to join the company when an opportunity arose.
Grafton, a project developer in the south central United States with Davey Resource Group, was a college student when he attended the 2002 National Urban Forestry Conference. He says the DRG personnel there treated him like a potential client and friend – an attitude that helped him realize that Davey would be a good fit for him. Grafton, an International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist and utility specialist, joined DRG in 2005 as a utility forester in Oklahoma.
"From the first time I trained as a utility forester to my experiences on the road as a project developer, everyone I’ve met in the Davey family has been a professional, caring, helpful individual," Grafton says. "I have found in my recent travels that no matter where I go to meet a fellow Davey employee, I know what I’m going to get before I even shake their hand: A person of high regard, a quality individual who is welcoming, pleasant and represents Davey completely."
Grafton encourages people interested in working for Davey to "take advantage of the opportunity, learn from the long history and experience that Davey brings, and join a team that will grow your career as far as you want it to go."
