"If you want to move up within a company, if you want to explore possibilities and opportunities, Davey is the place to be."
Ron Wammes' first day working for Davey was on his wife's birthday – a coincidence that has proved to be an omen of a wise career choice.
In 2000, Wammes joined Davey's operations in London, Ontario, after the private tree business he previously worked for shut down its operations. He initially was reluctant to join such a large company as Davey.
"But after learning about the benefits, employee ownership and job opportunities, I wondered why someone would work for a small, private company," says Wammes, now a Utility Services foreman and International Society of Arboriculture certified arborist and utility specialist.
He says he has enjoyed the experiences he has already had with Davey, including residential and municipal utility work, and he hopes to continue improving his skills.
"I’m always looking to better myself," Wammes says. "At Davey, you’re supported and encouraged to do that, and your hard work is always recognized."
