Rich Chilcoat was drawn to a career with Davey because of the stability it offers its employees and the involvement each person has in the company’s success.

Chilcoat began working in the green industry in 1990 and joined Davey’s Commercial Grounds Management division in 2003 as a business development specialist. He is now an account manager in the Washington, D.C., region.

"Davey has big-company security with a small-company culture," he says. "When I was looking to change employers, I interviewed with the top five landscape companies in the D.C. area. Davey Tree was the only company I felt truly cared about my success and professional growth."

Chilcoat has experienced such growth by setting goals and mapping tasks that are necessary to achieve them. Accomplishing each task is among his motivators for success, he says.

"I strive each day to make my family proud of my efforts and of the company those efforts are for," Chilcoat says. "If at the end of each day I can make the crew at home proud, it motivates me to get out of bed in the morning."
