Lou Stevens wanted a job with a company that would challenge him but provide career growth, and "Davey was the perfect fit," he says.

Stevens joined Davey in 1976 as a climber for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company account. He now is Utility Services Area Manager of California’s Central Coast operations, including the PG&E work.

"Managing a large operation is no easy task," Stevens says. "It requires a lot of good help, and I have surrounded myself with the best. My management team works very well together, and we do whatever is needed to get the job done."

Part of getting the job done right includes maintaining a positive attitude and recognizing new talent – something Stevens truly enjoys. This is especially crucial when starting a new contract, he says.

"The hard work is really worth it when you see new employees coming on," Stevens says. "When they’re excited about their new careers, it’s a good feeling knowing you had a part in it."
