Haywood Electric: Meter Change Out |

Haywood Electric Membership Corporation is relying on Southeastern Reprographics, Inc. (SRI), a unit of Davey Resource Group, to provide meter change out services in an effort to increase the efficiency of its system.
SRI completed the development of a geographic information system (GIS) for the rural Waynesville, N.C., electric cooperative in 2006. After the completion of the mapping project, Haywood EMC decided to take on the task of automated meter reading. This requires changing every meter on this 25,000 meter system.
Three field personnel take pictures of the old meters and collect the meter number and reading before removing it. The new meter number is scanned, and the equipment is installed. Work is expected to be completed in March 2008.
Haywood EMC provides power throughout a rugged, mountainous terrain of North Carolina.
