"Davey and its employees are committed to always being better. We learn from our mistakes, which help us do better the next day."
Visitors to the Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington, D.C., often express their appreciation for the work Davey does to maintain the grounds there, and this fills German Contreras with pride.
Contreras joined Davey in 1996 when its crews first began at the cemetery, where more than 4 million people visit each year, often to pay final respects at graveside services. The landscaper says he appreciates the training and encouragement he has received since starting his career with the company.
"You are trained to be better and more productive," Contreras says. "It’s a strong company, and you’re given opportunities to grow. You can be whatever you want here because they provide the tools and support to succeed. It’s one reason I’ve been with the company for so long."
Contreras says he tells people that Davey is the "best company to work for. You will see the difference as soon as you start and be grateful for the chances you’re given."
