Jeff King hoped that, after earning his degree, he would work for a solid company that encourages continued education and training and has a family feel. With Davey, he has found such a fit.

"Integrity, respect and high morals are just a few words that describe the best of Davey," he says. "The employees build on these values and goals every day, improving themselves and the company as a whole."

A professor at Texas A&M University, where King earned his urban forestry degree, encouraged him to seek a career with Davey. King completed an internship in Davey’s Plant Health Care program in 2006 and became an employee in 2007 when he joined the accelerated sales training program with the Residential and Commercial operations in North Houston.

He has experienced unexpected success, particularly when he made his first sales call. He wound up helping a homeowner save a dying tree and improve the condition of her landscaping. She, in turn, contacted the district manager to express her gratitude and satisfaction with the work and assistance.

"I try to push myself and others to go beyond personal limitations," King says. "I know that if I ever give up because of fatigue or fear, I can never ask anyone else to push their limits."
